Successful BELGOLUX–Sri Lanka Business Council Cocktail Reception Held in Brussels

The BELGOLUX Sri Lanka Business Council (BLSBC), in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Belgium, successfully hosted its Business Engagement Evening and Cocktail Reception on 24 February 2026 at the Sri Lanka Residence in Rhode-Saint-Genèse.

The event brought together a distinguished gathering of business leaders, institutional representatives, entrepreneurs, and members of the Belgian and Luxembourg business community, marking another significant step in strengthening bilateral economic relations between Sri Lanka and the BENELUX region.


Opening and Diplomatic Engagement

The evening commenced with a warm welcome address by H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, who formally inaugurated the event. In his remarks, His Excellency highlighted the importance of structured economic cooperation and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering stronger trade and investment partnerships with Belgium and Luxembourg.

This was followed by a comprehensive presentation by the Commercial Ministry of the Embassy, providing an overview of Sri Lanka’s economic landscape, recent reforms, and emerging investment opportunities. Particular emphasis was placed on priority sectors, the evolving policy environment, and the country’s renewed focus on international business collaboration.


Presentation of BLSBC Vision and Strategic Direction

The President of the BELGOLUX Sri Lanka Business Council presented the Council’s objectives, mandate, and strategic role in facilitating structured engagement between the business communities of Sri Lanka and the BENELUX region.

The presentation further outlined the proposed Belgium–Luxembourg Business Delegation to Sri Lanka, including participation in Expo Sri Lanka 2026, structured B2B engagements, institutional meetings, and sector-focused discussions. The delegation was positioned as a practical and results-oriented initiative aimed at creating tangible business outcomes.


Strong Interest in Trade Mission to Sri Lanka

The formal programme was followed by a dynamic networking session, during which participants engaged in constructive discussions and explored potential areas of collaboration.

Notably, many attendees expressed a favourable interest in joining the upcoming trade mission to Sri Lanka, reflecting growing momentum and confidence in bilateral engagement efforts.


Cultural Hospitality and Fellowship

The evening concluded with a reception featuring traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, offering guests an opportunity to continue informal discussions while experiencing Sri Lanka’s renowned hospitality.
